Mission Clean Beaches

Mission: Clean Beaches Inc. is a non-profit organization based in Brevard County, FL USA. We are a scientifically-based conservation group focusing on the topic of marine litter, plastics pollution, sustainable living, and coastal conservation.

We perform regular beach cleanups with proper disposal, recycling, or re-purposing in mind. Above and beyond that, MCB quantitatively surveys the marine litter collected for scientific research and to provide evidence of this growing issue.

Mission Clean Beaches was created to bring light to the negative impacts of marine debris, especially to our wildlife—through public outreach, education, action, and advocacy.

Mission: Clean Beaches Inc. was founded in the spring of 2012 after being inspired by the years of walking the local beaches of Brevard County during my undergraduate studies in marine biology at Florida Tech. I have always been fascinated with sea turtles and began to realize the horrible connection of  sea turtles and other marine species to marine debris, especially plastics ingestion and entanglement.

Some of our current research projects include plastics ingestion of sea turtles and plastics characterization of the Sargassum wrackline along the Florida coastline and East Coast of the USA. MCB also provides educational outreach and awareness to various demographics with the goal of turning awareness into action and promises into practices!
