Together Green

My name is Lorraine and I am contacting you today on behalf of the National Audubon Society and a remarkable project called TogetherGreen. You are probably wondering what exactly TogetherGreen is. It’s all about helping people get involved in creating a brighter, healthier future. This Audubon program funded by Toyota aims to provide inspiration, leadership and opportunities that inspire people everywhere to take action at home, in their communities and beyond to improve the health of our environment.

It’s no big secret that we must take care of our environment today for the success and well-being of our future generations. Forty-one projects in 24 states will receive TogetherGreen Conservation Innovation Grants totaling $1.4 million dollars. Winners were selected from applicants nationwide for their innovative approaches at inspiring people to tackle environmental problems in their communities. With the help of a Toyota funded TogetherGreen national innovation grant, volunteers from the St. Petersburg and Clearwater Audubon Societies and Eckerd College will work together enlightening people about the risks of disturbing beach nesting bird colonies during the summer nesting season. A one-year grant will fund the program and will be put into motion during peak beach season in 2009.

The five-year TogetherGreen initiative was launched this past spring to fund conservation projects, train environmental leaders, and offer volunteer and individual action opportunities that significantly benefit the environment. Community volunteer days have already begun in over 40 cities across the country and TogetherGreen.org helps users take conservation action and share and celebrate conservation success stories.

What is TogetherGreen?

It’s all about helping you get involved in creating a brighter, healthier future. It’s a dynamic and innovative Audubon program funded by Toyota that aims to provide inspiration, leadership and opportunities that inspire people everywhere to take action at home, in their communities and beyond to improve the health of our environment.

Act Today. Shape Tomorrow.

  • Connect all kinds of people across America with the nature and resources that surround and sustain us, hopefully inspiring concern and conservation action;
  • Fund and support innovative conservation projects, leadership development and volunteerism to engage people in land, water, and energy conservation;
  • Work to produce and report real results for the health of our communities and our planet.

TogetherGreen also represents an important alliance between Audubon and Toyota. It’s built on our shared belief that we must all work together if we hope to confront the tremendous environmental challenges and opportunities of today and the years ahead. Together, we can make a difference. We invite everyone to get involved through TogetherGreen.
