John is President of John M. De Marco Communications, and VP & Editor of GreenBrevard.com. John works in the financial services sector and also is a licensed United Methodist pastor. He writes and speaks on a regular basis within and beyond Brevard County, and can be heard weekdays on WMEL AM 920 with his “Intentional Living” one-minute messages.
Children’s Home Society of Florida, Brevard Division’s mission is “Embracing Children. Inspiring Lives.” This is accomplished through prevention, intervention and mentoring programs for children and their families.

After the current election season, it’s well understood that we live in a divided nation. On the outside it seems that the pressing issues that separate us are all about war, or terrorism or national security. Maybe the economy figures in, or health care or Social Security.
Keep Brevard Beautiful has several programs that deal with landscaping, xeriscaping and beautification. They do much more than pick up trash. They sponsor recycling education and awareness, help plant trees in our parks, and notices when your business improves your property with its recognition program. And they work to get rid of non-native plants, like the notorious Brazilian Pepper, that invade and displace beneficial plants.
4-H is a community of young people across America who are learning leadership, citizenship and life skills. This past year 4-H celebrated its centennial landmark across the nation. While apparently still the best kept secret in many states, Brevard County 4-H Agents Kristian Chervenock and Renee’ L. Gore are doing their best to get the word out about 4-H as a Youth Development Organization.
The services Brevard Job Link provides are offered online or through one of our three full service settings which are designed for ease in use, comfort and professional appeal. They include an online multimedia presentation called Tour of Services that contains voice over and readable text.
Trained 2-1-1 counselors can help connect callers to information about local governmental, health and human services and volunteer opportunities. The agency maintains a comprehensive database of these services which include programs that assist with basic needs, emergency financial assistance, parenting classes, mental health and substance abuse services, domestic violence shelters, mentoring programs, community activities and more.
