Art for Fall Holidays at the Henegar

Come visit the Strawbridge Art League at the Henegar in downtown Melbourne. Currently the artists have put together a “Haunted Hallway,” featuring artwork from the Mexican Holiday, “Dia de Los Muertos“. Volunteers will be decorating on the 11th of October.

The Day of the Dead is not a spooky holiday, though it does come around Halloween every year. It is a time for families to remember those who have passed on. They visit grave sites of relatives with gifts and food and tell stories of generations that have past. Students and adults participated in this art show.

The opening coincides with the Henegar’s opening of “Woman in Black” on October 12th 2012. There will be one Best of Show prize given by former Spanish Teacher, Senora Linda Markley. The prize will be presented at a costume party on November 3rd.

For November, artists will be encouraged to bring in a canned food item for the needy in Brevard as artists give back in the coming show entitled, “Joy to the World.” This show will feature art that is priced right for gift giving for the holidays. To enter, you must be a member. Entry fees will be $15 per entry, or $10 per entry with a food donation.
