I’ve always been haunted by Paul Gauguin’s painting, Where Do We Come From? What Are We? Where Are We Going? It’s not the imagery: a Tahitian beach, the life of a girl who asks where her roots are and what she will become. It’s the question. Many of us can’t take the time to ask it.
