We recently had the opportunity to talk with Larry Weber, the Executive Director of Keep Brevard Beautiful. KBB is an incredible organization. Created in 1981, it has managed, directed and initiated a wide array of programs and have enlisted the help of thousands of our residents. From education and partnership with Brevard’s schools, to Adopt-A-Road and Adopt-A-Shore, to continual clean-ups Larry and his teams efforts have a profound impact. They work tirelessly behind the scenes at many events, such as the Cocoa Beach Area of Commerce’s annual SeaFest celebration, to ensure litter-free events.

This past year 4-H celebrated its centennial landmark across the nation. While apparently still the best kept secret in many states, Brevard County 4-H Agents Kristian Chervenock and Renee’ L. Gore are doing their best to get the word out about 4-H as a Youth Development Organization.

4-H teaches life skills that youth can develop in the course of exploring interesting projects that range from horses to canoeing, citizenship to cultural exchange, rocketry and geo-caching. The list goes on as youth learn to live the 4-H motto “To Make the Best Better.”

Brevard Job Link is a network of one-stop career centers offering a variety of no-cost services to job seekers and businesses. Currently we have over 1,700 available jobs listed for Brevard alone, in our system. Job seekers can access information, resources and links to help in your job search. This September, many Brevard residents found themselves dialing 2-1-1 for information to help them prepare for, weather and recover from the hurricanes Charley, Frances and Jeanne.

What some may not have realized is that this resource is available year-round, twenty-four hours a day, to help people get connected to and get answers about important community services and volunteer opportunities.
